Inspired by the types of seafood that can be found in the coast of eastern Japan, each bag is woven together with care by the wives of local fishermen in the region. There are two sets of straps: one for the shoulders, and a smaller one that can be held with your hands. Designed by DRILL DESIGN and illustrated by Aoi Huber Kono for Ishinomaki Laboratory.

The Buona Pesca canvas tote bags were designed for the purposes of creating employment in the disaster region. Illustrated by Europe-based graphic designer Aoi Huber Kono, the name of the pattern, buona pesca, comes from the Italian word for “big catch”.
