Lamana uses 4 kinds of wood species, in their natural finish (the more accurate term is “unfinished”), to produce Ishinomaki Laboratory products. The prices vary depending on the customer’s wood preference. Other wood types may also be requested.

  • A valuable, highly sought after hardwood due to its remarkable qualities, including being naturally resistant to rot, fungus, and termites.

  • With proper care, it lasts for over 100 years, making your teak furniture an heirloom piece.

  • Has an attractive looking straight grain pattern coupled with a rich golden-brown color.

  • Gives off a leather-like aroma.

  • Weather resistant.  It is one of the few wood types in the world containing natural oil which repels water, keeping it from warping, cracking or becoming brittle, making it ideal for garden or outdoor furniture.

  • It is a very dense wood and has a high weight to volume ratio.  Expect your furniture to be heavy.

  • Our kiln dried teak timber is sourced from Southeast Asia and Latin America.

  • Valued for its tough, waterproof and durable qualities. It is in great demand for building yachts and exterior and interior cladding besides being used for furniture.

  • Though not classified as hardwood, larch is the heaviest and hardest coniferous wood. It is as heavy as, if not heavier than, many hardwoods.

  • It is stable and elastic and is not subject to considerable shrinkage.

  • Light in color with a mix of straight and spiraled grains and occasional small knots.

  • Gives off a pine-like aroma.

  • Both for indoor and outdoor use.

  • Our kiln dried larch timber is sourced from Europe.

  • Also the wood type used by Ishinomaki Laboratory, Japan.

  • Desired for its strength yet lightness in weight.

  • If you like to move your furniture around, this is an ideal wood type.

  • While classified as a softwood, western red cedar is very durable that it is used for many architectural projects.

  • Colors will range from pale brown to deep, dark reddish tones.

  • Has a straight grain and uniform texture.

  • Gives off a sweet aroma, that is almost floral-like.

  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use.  It has natural moisture-resisting properties. It is also resistant to rot and insects. When left under the elements, it turns into a beautiful silver grey color.

  • Our kiln dried western red cedar timber is sourced from Canada.

  • A hardwood that is desired for its durability yet more affordable price compared to other hardwoods.

  • Brownish red in color.

  • No characteristic smell.

  • Has straight grains and hardly any knots.

  • Though fungi and termite resistant, it is not an outdoor wood and must not be left under the rain. Recommended for indoor use only.

  • We refer to this wood type locally as tanguile but its international name is meranti.

  • Our kiln dried tanguile/meranti timber is sourced from Southeast Asia.
