ISHINOMAKI LABORATORY

Ishinomaki Laboratory was founded as a workshop for locals in an area of Japan most devastated by the tsunami in March 2011. Carrying over the spirit of DIY, they restored local stores and held workshops (including one in Bohol after the 2013 earthquake). With straightforward and thoughtful designs grounded in necessity, Ishinomaki Laboratory has gone beyond the local community and expanded its reach as a respected furniture brand to New York, London, Zurich, Lausanne, Singapore, Hong Kong and now Manila.

 

With Ishinomaki Laboratory’s desire to empower local communities, they have created an initiative called Made in Local in which local craftsmen in Manila will manufacture their designs. With Made in Local, Ishinomaki Laboratory pieces are proudly Philippine-made upheld by the brand’s impeccable standards.
